There's just 3 easy steps to choose the wedding photographer who will be right for you, we're not even saying we are the photographers you should choose! Knowing what to look for and knowing a few simple things will allow you to make an informed choice and be more confident that you're going to get the pictures of the special day that you will want to treasure.
Probably the most important thing to know is who will be taking your pictures, talk to as many wedding photographers in your area as possible. Basing your decision on a few carefully selected photographs on some website is not going to give you confidence in their ability or tell you how they deal with the pressures of a hectic weding day. At the end of this page are links to some of the wedding photographer directory pages for Dorset and Hampshire, also try search engines, put in your location, the service you require and see what comes up.
Once you have talked to as many photographers as possible make shortlist of the ones you'd like to meet with. Many times your first impression will tell you more than looking through a lot of pictures in a gallery. We'd say "a meeting is worth a 1000 pictures". As important as a finished image may be, these people will be at your wedding, are they fun, did you feel relaxed in their company?
No matter how well intentioned or trustworthy a photographer is you should have a written contract. If you've choosen well there's unlikely to be issues but it's always a good idea to have the agreement in black and white. Contracts remove any misunderstanding and both parties know where they stand and what to expect.
